The Madness

The Madness: We, as individual listeners, HAVE to hear it RIGHT. We all KNOW what right is when we hear it; yet, we all hear differently. FACT! Simply put, what may sound a bit bright to me might sound like air to you. The experience of music whether live or in the home is purely subjective, intensely personal. The trick is, for you and I to connect on that personal level so WE can figure out what is RIGHT for YOU. To modify, tweak or to accessorize an existing system; or to a assemble a playback system from scratch, tailored to your perception of perfection is my goal at HighEndAudio, LLC. Just because some self serving "Audio Expert" reports on a component or system behaving in a certain way, i.e.. good or bad, does not mean that; 1) it does or; 2) it will to you. The best way to bring on the debilitating frustrating symptoms of "Audiophile Nirvosa", AKA. The Madness; read a bunch of reviews on the same product! What does the damn thing really sound like??? You are the only judge of what sounds good to you.

The Method: Many things effect the perceived sound of a given playback system. We all know how important minor changes in system set up can be, right. Live un-amplified music is the ultimate reference of "correct" sound. Even taking this as an ultimate audio truth, we must keep mental tabs on a few things. First and again, we all hear differently. As sentient human beings we perceive as sound, changes in air pressure corresponding to a range of "sizes or degrees" of pressure changes. A big bass drum creates a large wave or change in pressure. Thus we say it "moves a lot of air". A brushed cymbal on the other hand produces a subtle change. All people hear in roughly the same audible band of waves or frequencies, but the differences in our own physical bodies, i.e. the shape of our outer ear, the sensitivity of the inner ear (nerve deafness to a degree?), our learned and GROWING ability to perceive sound (as a cognitive exercise), our general health (I seem to go deaf whenever I get a cold!) and our sense of well being, our state of mind when we listen to music, all effect the way we BOTH hear the same thing! Second, live music ceases to be live as soon as the pressure wave is picked up by a microphone. Let's hope it's a good one! Finally, outstanding individual components can sound poor in an inappropriate configuration. I would not ask a 5 w/p/c SET Klimo Beltaine to drive a pair of SP Tech's, they need power: A Duevel on the other hand... would be perfect! System, room and component matching is of the essence toward achieving a playback system as musically "correct" as possible.  This is the major flaw of anyone's list of recommended components. All class A products does not a good system make!  Ahhhh, the Madness, there is a cure!!!

The Cure:  I have assembled an outstanding, varied and highly unique collection of high end audio gear. My showroom is extremely comfortable, the atmosphere is VERY relaxed, and business is enjoyed and conducted one on one. The components themselves "sound" different from one another. Each has its own "character" if you will. Which one, or collection of several, sounds "right" is for you to decide. I invite you to come, listen and experiment. All these fine components have one thing in common. They all have the ability to involve and incorporate you in the emotional experience that is your favorite music. The ultimate goal of a high-end music playback system in any budget!!! Stop by for a one-on-one listening experience you will not soon forget. An extremely interesting and related article having to do with human powers of hearing can be found by clicking "here".

To keep in mind: Just a brief word to those who have local dealer representation.  My gear is here, chosen by me to compete with other gear, not other dealers. There is room for us all. If the companies we keep are represented by a dealer in your area, I strongly suggest you take full advantage of that fact and reward that individual with the sale. He or she has in all likelihood mortgaged their lives as well, so you can demo fine audio products in your home. Of course, as in every industry, there are exceptions to every rule.  If there is no dealer in your area, please feel free to contact me and I will work to accomodate you to the best of my ability.
